The Writing Rally is an activity put on in Spokane where kids preschool to 6th grade join together to listen to a writer and then we break up into small groups and help the kids create their own books. This is the first year it was done at Whitworth. I had the opportunity to be a leader and work with a group of 3rd graders. We listened to Jerry Pallotta (who has written over 20 Alphabet books, different math books, and has a total of over 60 books to his name)--he was a lot of fun to listen to. Then the kids came to my classroom and we wrote a book. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I worked with 8 kids and their parents. Here are a couple of pictures below.
